Continuation of the discussion on staff recruitment, mostly to come up with a timeline that ends with a decision being made after the AGM on Fri 24 July.

Edge Fund Regional Organiser selection process

Deadline for applications: 15 June 5pm

Aim: start mid-August

  1. Admin (15 – 16 June)
  1. We form a Recruitment Committee, including Facilitating Group and other members (15 have come forward so far). Members who have applied for job can also take part but cannot score their own application or applications in the same region as them
  2. Sophie emails applicants and confirms application received
  3. Sophie anonymises applications
  1. Initial screening (17 – 21 June)
  1. Sophie flags any applicants who clearly don’t have lived experience of the issues we aim to address, shared values or any relevant skills and experience
  2. Sophie sends eg 10 applications to each member in the Recruitment Committee to review flagging and agree/ disagree
  3. All applications then circulated to all Recruitment Committee, showing clearly which have been eliminated so people can challenge it if they want
  1. Values (22 – 28 June)
  1. Sophie sends eg 10 applications to each member of Recruitment Committee
  2. Members score out of 5 based on applicant’s values and how closely aligned they are to Edge values
  3. Aim is for each applicant to be scored by at least 5 members
  4. Any applicant with average less than 3 is taken out
  5. Sophie checks for fairness, can suggest applicants put back into process
  1. Skills (29 June – 5 July)
  1. Sophie sends eg 10 applications to each member of RC
  2. Members score out of 5 based on applicant’s skills
  3. Aim is for each applicant to be scored by at least 5 members
  4. Any applicant with average less than 3 is eliminated (more flexible on this than for values)
  5. Sophie checks for fairness, can suggest applicants put back into process
  6. All applications then circulated to all Recruitment Committee, showing clearly which have been eliminated so people can challenge it if they want
  1. Telephone interviews (6 – 12 July)

Agree on interview questions.

Telephone interviews with applicants where we were unclear/ unsure about any details (Skype as option).

  1. Interviews in person (13 – 19 July)

Aim: maximum 9 applicants to interview

Applicants interviewed individually – 13 July (possibly two locations)

Two sets of interview panels (2 people in each panel)

Interviews recorded (sound only) and shared with members

  1. Decision (20 – 26 July)

Recruitment Committee continue to listen to interviews (other members can too) and score out of 5

Decision to be made at meeting Fri 24 (after AGM) using scores as a starting point

[We announce a normal £40,000 round on 22 July with an application deadline of 21 September]

Decision to applicants: Monday 27 July
